Charging that a party conference was not place to make announcements of national decisions, a Democratic Labour Party (DLP) member, says, however, the education minister should have been gone in the Cabinet reshuffle.
Ryan Walters, the third vice president of the party and a candidate for St Michael North West in the last election, says the people of Barbados have been calling for the removal of Kay McConney.
“The fact that this announcement was made on the same day that hundreds were marching in The City against her ministry and [the] Minister of Education is not lost on me. Based on public sentiment, the issue of that controversial IDB survey is not going away.
“The Prime Minister must hold her ministers and by extension herself accountable to the people who elected them. Attempts to hide, mask or turn a blind eye will not help our country move forward. Any serious Cabinet reshuffle should include the Minister of Education. The masses have been calling for it,” said Walters in a post on social media.
On Sunday during the Barbados Labour Party’s 83rd Annual Conference, Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced the changes to Cabinet which will take effect tomorrow. (Nation News)
