Work on the National Stadium is currently at a standstill.
Minister of Sports Charles Griffith revealed this to the media yesterday during a tour of the Kilombo Emancipation Village in Haggatt Hall, St Michael.
“We’re waiting on the Chinese to identify the contractor in China. They’re in the process of identifying the contractor to do all of the work as it relates to the Stadium. Their contractors are responsible for the demolition and the construction. So, we’re waiting.
“As soon as they identify the contractor in China, I believe they will be on the island to deal with that. Everything has been signed off now so it is basically up to the Chinese side to identify that contractor and to do what they’re supposed to do,” he said.
