Port Of Spain – All-rounders Raymon Reifer and Justin Greaves hit half-centuries to put Barbados Pride in a strong position yesterday to push for a three-day victory over Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in their fourth-round West Indies Four-Day Championship match.
Resuming from 87 for two overnight in reply to Red Force’s paltry first-day total of 133 at the Brian Lara Stadium, Barbados made a respectable 294 with Reifer getting the top score of 79 with nine fours off 162 balls and Greaves scoring exactly 50 from 76 deliveries.
Jonathan Carter and Akeem Jordan contributed 41 and 31, respectively, while seamer Terrance Hinds led the hosts’ bowling with five for 32 in 15 overs. Captain Imran Khan chipped in with two for 59 in 17 overs of leg spin.
Facing a first-innings deficit of 161 runs, Red Force slumped to 51 for three in their second innings at the close of the second day’s play – still 110 runs in arrears – with opener Keegan Simmons not out 26 off 62 balls and the experienced Jason Mohammed on six. (EZS)
