Rain ends Women’s CPL clash between TKR and Warriors

Basseterre – Rain prompted a no-result between Guyana Amazon Warriors and Trinbago Knight Riders in the second match of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League on Thursday at Warner Park in St Kitts.

After a delayed start, the Knight Riders were put into bat and struggled to reach 105 for six from their 20 overs courtesy of a top score of 25 from Hayley Jensen, 21 from their captain Deandra Dottin, and 20 from opener Natasha McLean.

West Indies Women’s international pacer Cherry-Ann Fraser was the pick of the Warriors’ bowlers taking 3-21 from her allotted four overs.

The Warriors were frustrated when Windies Women’s international Rashada Williams and Sri Lanka Women’s captain Chamari Athapathtu came out to stat the chase and the rain set in after two overs before the rest of play was abandoned with the Guyanese franchise 13 without loss.

The result meant the points are shared between the two teams, so TKR now sit on three points and the Warriors have one point and a match in hand.

The final match of the group between the Warriors and Barbados Royals takes place on Saturday at the same venue with the teams seeking to qualify for the final on Sunday.

Summarised scores:

KNIGHT RIDERS 105 for six off 20 overs (Hayley Jensen 25 not out, Deandra Dottin 21, Natasha McLean 20; Cherry-Ann Fraser 3-21)

AMAZON WARRIORS 13 without loss off two overs.
