Parkinson reopens on Monday

After being closed on Thursday and Friday last week and reverting to online classes, Parkinson Memorial Secondary School will reopen on Monday.

Last week, staff and students from a particular block on the Pine, St Michael compound complained of feeling unwell and had to seek medical attention.

The Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training says staff and students who usually occupy the affected block will be relocated to another section of the campus while the Ministry of Health and Wellness continues its investigations of the school’s surrounding areas.

The National Petroleum Corporation used leak detection equipment and the Barbados Fire Department tested for the presence of flammable gases in the areas of concern last Wednesday, but both found no evidence of any gases in those areas.

The Ministry says further updates will be provided as soon as investigations are completed. (PR/SAT)
