Pandemic Levy halfway to target

By the time the March 31 deadline arrives, Government should be close to the target of $115 million via the Pandemic Contribution Levy.

When it was announced in the Budget, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley said the Barbados Revenue Authority should collect $100 million from corporate donations and another $15 million from individuals who earn more than $6 250 monthly.

“At the end of October the Pandemic Levy collected was $6.9 million from individuals and $35.8 million from companies. So we would have collected just about $42 million from the Pandemic Levy, which for individuals started on April 1 [2022] but for companies started from July,” said Minister in the Ministry of Finance Ryan Straughn.

“Based on the trends, companies should have completed 2020 by the end of November and then by December, January, February and March would see the completion of 2021. I am in the process of putting all of the information together but I am happy to say that the response from businesses and individuals has been trending in the right direction,” he added.  (Nation News)
