NCF pushing Junior Masquerade

While there will again be no Junior Kadooment this year, the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) has partnered with several private partners to refocus on the Junior Masquerade.

The SigniaGlobe Financial Junior Masquerade will take place on July 11 involving seven schools and three community organisations.

Yesterday at the media launch at the George Lamming Primary School, Bridge Road, St Michael, chief cultural officer of the NCF Andrea Wells said the programme had actually been ongoing for around two decades but was taking on a more prominent role this year, especially since it had been on hiatus since the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It is part of the mandate of the NCF to train another generation of youth in the creative skills to prepare them to be well-rounded citizens with the option of possibly considering work in the field of the arts. This year when we were tasked with conceptualising Crop Over in a COVID-19 environment, we felt it irresponsible for us to put on a Junior Kadooment competition to bring so many young people together in one space.
