NAPSAC returns with much excitement

Hundreds of primary school athletes assembled at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex for the eagerly anticipated Chefette/Frosteez National Primary Schools’ Athletic Championships earlier Monday.

The games were officially declared open at 10:18 a.m. which signalled the start of the Andrea Blackett Zone.

Good Shepherd Primary immediately made their presence felt by recording the first victory of the day when Annette Springer won Section 1 of the Open Girls’ 600 metres.

The first boys’ race was won by nine-year-old Cruz Thornton of St Gabriel’s Primary School who triumphed in Section 1 of the Open Boys 800 metres heats as his mother Chynna Haynes screamed herself hoarse in the stands.

Thornton’s schoolmate and birthday boy Zachary Ladipo celebrated victory in the second heat.

Also in progress was the Under-11 Boys’ Cricket Ball Throw which will be followed by the Under-7 Girls’ and Boys’ 50 metre dash. (RW)
