Players from two of Barbados’ leading junior football clubs who were left stranded on the island last week could still be heading to Canada this summer.
Following a meeting on Monday at the Wildey Gymnasium between parents, coaches and minister of sports Charles Griffith, it was revealed that some local entities offered financial support and an additional $48 000 was required to make the trip a reality.
Griffith made the disclosure yesterday during an exclusive interview with Nation Sport.
“If we get the assistance from the private sector and others, there is a possibility that the tour could still be on. This is the reason I am trying to ask the private sector to contribute in trying to make it happen for these youngsters who were expecting a lot,” Griffith said. (MK)
