Left-handed batsman Shimron Hetmyer was named on Thursday in a 16-member West Indies squad for their series of five Twenty20 Internationals against India and the three T20Is against New Zealand that will follow.
Hetmyer has not represented West Indies in nine months because of fitness issues, and his form will be under microscope.
He did not feature in the preceding One-day International series against the Indians and has not played competitively since returning to the Caribbean from the Indian Premier League in May.
The squad is packed with all-rounders including the world-rated Barbadian Jason Holder and his compatriot Dominic Drakes, son of former Barbados and West Indies all-rounder Vasbert Drakes.
Squad:
Nicholas Pooran (captain), Rovman Powell (vice-captain), Shamarh Brooks, Dominic Drakes, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Josepj, Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Obed McCoy, Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith, Devon Thomas, Hayden Walsh Jr.
