Gun theft case put for February 3

A gun dealer and former president of the Barbados Rifle Association appeared in the No. 5A Supreme Court on Friday on a theft charge relating to 15 weapons.

Michael Ian Holder, 53, of Moravian Drive, Fairholme Gardens, Christ Church, is accused of stealing 15 M4 Commando MM semi-automatic rifles, belonging to Carter’s and Company Ltd, between May 11, 2006 and June 27, 2011.

His attorney Lesley Cargill-Straker petitioned the court for a two-week adjournment.

“I’ve been presented with the pre-sentencing report and there are a number of avenues I would like to explore,” the attorney said, adding she also wanted to take instructions from the accused. (HLE)
