The 2022 graduating class of Queen’s College (QC) has been urged to dream big, stay focused on their goals, never give up and remain humble.
These were the main points from the three addresses during the graduation ceremony held at the Husbands, St James school yesterday evening.
Sixth-form year head Natalie Atkins-Hinds told the 110 graduands that working hard and setting high standards were two important tenets of success. She added the students should feel proud of themselves for working through a difficult period of their schooling to complete this stage of their learning.
“These past two years of your education in a COVID-19 environment may have provoked and tested your resilience. These past two years have presented challenges for many of us, but despite all of this, be confident and understand that although challenges may present themselves as obstacles, these challenges can either deter your motivation or be the manure that contributes to the positive growth of your character,” Atkins-Hinds said.
Principal Dr David Browne recalled the points of his orientation address seven years ago when many of the graduating body first stepped onto the school compound.
He said that the gist of his remarks then – the importance of setting goals, academic achievement and discipline – were still applicable today. (SB)
