Barbadians should know by year-end what the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) will be offering as an alternative to the ruling Barbados Labour Party (BLP).
This is according to president Dr Ronnie Yearwood as the Dems held an ole time excursion at Bath Beach, St John, yesterday, following the conclusion of their 67th annual conference at George Street, Belleville, St Michael, on Saturday.
Speaking amid a sea of mainly yellow T-shirt-clad supporters of all ages in a festive mood in the party’s once fortress constituency, Yearwood said the DLP was in resurgence, but declined to reveal any strategies or policy positions coming out of the conference.
“I’m not discussing party strategy in public and I don’t speak off the cuff for and on behalf of the party. Things have to be done in an informed way. Things have to be done in an organised way,” he said.
He added that the matters discussed would be distilled and then the membership will be engaged on the issues raised. After that, the party will come to the country by December with some initial reports and policy positions. (SNR)
