Tests revealed another 49 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Barbados, health authorities reported on Tuesday.
The authorities said in a news release issued through the Barbados Government Information Servicce that 20 males and 29 females – including nine young people under the age of 18 – were detected with the viral illness from the 399 tests conducted on Monday, September 19, by laboratories across the island.
The laboratories have conducted 762 542 tests since February 2020, and recorded 102 279 COVID-19 cases (46 245 males and 56 034 females).
The news release stated that 30 people were being medically treated for the illness in government isolation facilities, and 335 were being monitored under the home isolation programme of the Ministry of Health & Wellness.
Health authorities also reported that 163 602 people (71.6 per cent of the eligible population) have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine under the national vaccination programme.
The total number of people considered fully vaccinated now stands at 154 606 (57 per cent of the total population or 67.7 per cent of the eligible population).
The eligible population is anyone 12 years and older.
