Health authorities in Barbados reported on Monday that 24 people returned positive tests for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Sunday, September 11.
According to a news release issued through the Barbados Government Information Service, 10 males and 14 females – including three young people under the age of 18 – were detected with the viral illness from the 338 tests carried out by laboratories across the island.
The news release added that 47 people were seeking medical treatment in government isolation facilities at the time of reportin, and another 427 were being monitor under the home isolation programme of the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
The authorities also indicated that 163 445 people (71.6 per cent of the eligible population) have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine under the national vaccination programme.
The number of people now considered fully vaccinated in the island stands at 154 502 (57 per cent of the total population or 67.6 per cent of the eligible population).
The eligible population is anyone 12 years and older.
