Cameraman recalls mall ordeal

Videographer Christopher Wood broke down in tears on the witness stand of the No. 3 Supreme Court yesterday as he recalled a day on the job that turned deadly.

The cameraman, an employee of the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), was testifying in the murder trial of Hakeem Roberto Stuart, who is charged in the murder of Damian Trotman on March 21, 2019.

Wood had been on the stand for less than five minutes and broke down after telling the court he had hit the floor upon hearing explosions.

The witness said he had been on duty at Sheraton Mall in Christ Church interviewing members of the blind community when the explosions were heard. But before he could continue testimony, Wood cried out and fell backwards, sobbing uncontrollably.

Justice Carlisle Greaves adjourned the case for ten minutes so the witness could regain his composure. (BA)
