‘Brighter’ days ahead

There is lots to be depressed about in West Indies cricket.

But Cricket West Indies chief executive officer Johnny Grave said there is hope, and there is plenty happening behind the scenes that will pay dividends in the long term if wise business decisions are made and things are allowed to flourish.

Grave gave that assessment in view of recent results from West Indies teams on the international stage.

The woeful performances are highlighted by the men being dumped from last year’s ICC Men’s Twenty20 World Cup at the qualifying stage and subsequently being swept in two Tests against hosts Australia, and the women being swept in three One-day and five Twenty20 Internationals against the visiting England Women.

Grave said CWI were going to continue to make business-led decisions and tough choices were needed about how the resources of the organisation were allocated to fuel cricket development. (AR)
