Corey Harris, of the Barbados Light and Power Co., addressed the public this morning following several reports of power outages across the island in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
Harris reported that the outages, ranging from small to large, were anticipated given the impact of the hurricane.
The company has decided that they will not re-engage the power once the all-clear is given until inspections are completed to ensure there are no unsafe conditions for the public. He emphasized the importance of remaining indoors and away from downed power lines for safety.
Harris also mentioned that pole numbers are included on nearby electric bills to help identify the specific pole and its condition more quickly, which aids in faster response and repair.
He urged everyone to adhere to all safety conditions highlighted in the media and to report any issues using the information provided on the electric bills.
