AK-47 rifle ‘kept for friend’

Sean George Ivanhoe Whitehead wants to put four criminal charges dating back to 2011 behind him, and by Friday he will get the opportunity to do so when he is sentenced.

Whitehead, then 28, of No 53 Long Beach Estate, Christ Church, had pleaded guilty to illegal possession of an AK-47 rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition, and unlawful possession of 3.44 kilogrammes of cannabis and related equipment, all on March 10, 2011, before Justice Randall Worrell on Monday.

Yesterday, State Counsel Neville Watson told the No. 2 Supreme Court that, as a result of information received, officers obtained a warrant to search the premises occupied by Whitehead at Wotton Plantation, Christ Church.

While searching his fridge, police found a brown plastic bag with a transparent container containing a loose quantity of cannabis. When asked, Whitehead told officers: “That is just some marijuana leaves I does store in the fridge so I can make hash oil when I collect enough of these.” (RA)
