Junior surfer Kai St George dominated and won an unprecedented four categories at the Barbados Surfing Assocation’s (BSA) third Surfer Of The Year series last Saturday at Drill Hall Beach.
St George prevailed in the Open Men’s, Under-20 and Under-16 Boys’ as well as the Longboard Open divisions to formally announce himself as one of Barbados’ most promising surfers.
In the Open Men’s final, St George took the victory with a monster total of 12.83 while second place Rafe Gooding, who was thrice a runner-up on Saturday, scored 9.67. Tommaso Layson scored 7.77 for third place while Warren Povey narrowly missed out on bronze with his total of 7.57.
Among the Under-20 Boys’, St George scored an unassailable 13.5 in the final, with Gooding his closest rival with 10.44. Povey was third in the division with a total of 8.5 with Jayden Hill fourth with 7.24. (NM)
