As the Pierhead Redevelopment Project gets closer to a start, a well-known store that has operated in Bridgetown for decades had to close its doors yesterday.
Scores of customers flocked to the Pierhead branch of Massy Stores on its last day of business.
Managing director of Massy Stores Randall Banfield gave the assurance that no jobs will be lost as the employees will be relocated to other stores.
“There is a historical and sentimental component to it, but the building was sold to the property developers as part of the redevelopment of the area, so we have no choice but to move out.
“But we are very happy that there has been no dislocation as far as jobs are concerned, so will be communicating with customers to let them know there are other stores,” he told the Sunday Sun yesterday as customers were capitalising on sales. (TG)
